Audeo B and Audeo B-R Features
Both Audeo B and Audeo B-R boast Phonak features that address mild to severe hearing loss. Phonak B and B-R (rechargeable option) are both receiver-in-canal hearing aids, so small that they are barely noticeable when worn. With an IP68 rating, Phonak Audeo hearing aids are designed to keep out the elements, protect the sensitive electronic components from dust and moisture, and enable wearers to continue their active lives. Phonak Audeo B and B-R hearing aids are available in four performance levels and nine colors. Both models are fully customizable and molded to fit the wearer's ears for maximum comfort.
AutoSense OS is one of Phonak's trademark features, an automatic operating system that provided better speech understanding and less effort in hearing. AutoSense automatically balances and mixes sounds from the wearer's environment, and provides a more comfortable listening experience with amplification. Compared to similar hearing aids of its kind, AutoSense provides Phonak Audeo aids with 20% better speech understanding in normal environments and 60% in noisy environments. In part, this is thanks to AutoSense's ability to zoom in on a single speaker's voice. For conversations in car, AutoSense has shown a 37% reduction in listening. For soft speech understanding, AutoSense provides wearers with 10% improvement. As an automatic program, AutoSense makes listening seamless for Audeo users by analyzing sound every 0.4 seconds. AutoSense blends sounds at an incredibly fast speed to create 200+ settings, matching almost every possible sound environment you may experience.

Audeo B-R Rechargeable - Breakthrough Lithium-Ion Technology
With an overwhelming call for a rechargeable hearing aid, Phonak has designed Audeo B-R with groundbreaking lithium-ion battery technology. Lithium-ion batteries are the same ones found in your laptops, tablets, and phones – powerful and long-lasting. Phonak Audeo B-R hearing aids eliminate the need for constant battery change, as with traditional hearing aid batteries. The recharging process itself is simple and user friendly.
Audeo B-R may be charged with several different stations available from Phonak. The Phonak Charger Case is a charger, drying kit, and protective hard case all in one, and comes with a cleaning tool. The Charger Case is the largest of the options. The Phonak Power Pack is easily attached to the Phonak Charger Case and can be powered up to be taken on short trips so that you are never caught without battery power. The Power Pack provides up to seven full charges. The Mini-Charger is the smallest option and ideal for travel. For those on the run, Phonak Charger Cases power Audeo B-R aids with six hours of hearing on a 30-minute charge. If you find yourself wirelessly streaming phone calls, music, or other media through your Audeo B-R aids, then you'll experience 80 minutes of uninterrupted listening. On a regular basis, a six-hour charge in the Charger Case provides Audeo B-R aids with 24 hours of unlimited hearing. Phonak Audeo B-R is currently the longest-lasting rechargeable hearing aid available on the market, with 40% more power than any other rechargeable battery option.
Audeo B-Direct - Direct Connectivity to iOS or Android phones
With Audeo B Direct, Phonak has introduced the very first hearing aid that connects directly to both iOS and Android phones. The Direct hearing aids allow the wearer to connect seamlessly to their smartphone without the use of a streamer. These devices can be used as a hands-free, wireless headset for phones and also provide excellent wireless streaming of TV signals (through their TV Connector accessory).
Phonak Audeo Features
SoundRecover is a tremendous feature for those with severe high-frequency hearing loss. Before the introduction of SoundRecover (and later SoundRecover2), amplification of these frequencies often did little to improve speech intelligibility and satisfaction of hearing aid use. Using a sound processing technique called frequency compression (also known as frequency lowering), Audeo hearing aids can shift sounds from these high frequencies to a pitch more likely heard by the wearer. Users of this technology have described being able to hear sounds that they haven't heard in years, even with previous hearing aids.
StereoZoom is a technology that allows the hearing aids to focus in on the most important speech signals in a noisy environment. In challenging listening situations, focusing on the speaker can be difficult. Stereo Zoom helps with this by narrowing the field of directionality using the directional microphones on the hearing aid system.
Tinnitus Balance Noise Generator
Many hearing aids wearers also experience ringing or buzzing in the ears, also known as tinnitus. Using frequencies similar to the tinnitus sounds, the noise generator helps to mask out the tinnitus sounds. This provides the wearer an increased sense of calm and comfort while wearing their hearing aids.
- Can I stream audio from my television to Audeo hearing aids?
Yes. Using the TV Connector accessory from Phonak, Audeo users can stream their favorite movies and television shows into their Audeo B-Direct hearing aids for maximum enjoyment and sound quality.
- Can I stream phone calls from my Bluetooth-capable phone to Phonak Audeo?
Yes. Audeo B-Direct wearers get universal connectivity to any bluetooth-compatible phone. Users will also be able to hear the phone conversation in both ears, giving them more clarity and intelligibility.
- Does the B-Direct model come in a rechargeable option?
Not at this time. You can choose between the B-Direct model for direct connectivity or the B-R for rechargeability.
Phonak Belong Platform
Taking user feedback into account, Phonak has created the Belong Platform, which addresses the desire for sleeker design, heightened comfort, wireless communication, lower power consumption, ease of use, and automation. The Belong Platform is available in Audeo B , Audeo B-Direct and Audeo B-R.
Ease of Use
Belong addresses the primary concern from consumers: a rechargeable energy source. Using lithium-ion battery technology, Belong provides Phonak Audeo hearing aids with 24 hours of hearing on a single charge. For a fast charging option, 30 minutes will provide six hours of use. Additionally, unlike other hearing aid batteries, Phonak's rechargeable batteries last four years – which means Audeo hearing aid wearers do not have to worry about changing batteries anytime soon. How's that for convenience?
Belong builds upon Phonak's previous technological platforms, to provide hearing aid wearers with excellent listening features. With AutoSense OS and SoundRecover 2, Belong provides Audeo hearing aid wearers with 20% better speech understanding, 60% improvement of speech understanding in very noisy environments, and 37% reduction in effort when listening to conversations in cars. Hearing performance is achieved in the new design with the microphone's unique positioning to capture the greatest picture of sound.
Reviews of Phonak and Phonak Audeo
In the Hearing Review, audiologist Tiffany Sexton says, “Having the Phonak platform in a rechargeable option has been the best thing for both my patients and myself. The Phonak Platform is leaps and bounds above anything that I fit previously, and having it in a rechargeable option has made my job so much easier and it's made my patients so much more willing to try hearing aids. I see a lot of people working in their 40s and 50s that now are willing to get hearing aids because Phonak has a rechargeable option.”
Another audiologist, Kelli House, says that the Audeo B-R is a “completely different product than any other rechargeable that's been on the market. From sound quality to ease of use to how long it lasts and ease of charge, this in my opinion, is the game changer for rechargeable hearing aids, without a doubt.”
On Hearing Tracker, the Phonak Audeo B-R has received a 90% rating.
